"THIS IS A NON-PRIORITY TO RUSSIA" Putin sharply attacks the Americans over the list of Russian oligarchs and politicians threatened with sanctions

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced Tuesday a list of the US Treasury Department listing a number of prominent officials close to the Kremlin under the threat of sanctions, calling it an "enemy act."

This list will, according to the Russian president, surely additionally complicate US Russian relations and "harm international relations as a whole".

"In fact, all the people on that list are characterized as enemies of the United States," Putin's spokesman Dimitry Peskov said .

The mentioned list is part of a package of sanctions passed last August as a law, but that does not mean that those whose names are found on it will be subject to sanctions. But for a wide circle of rich Russians there is always a danger that they will still be hit by sanctions.

The list, which is part of a package of sanctions last year, enumerates 210 names, political officials and "oligarchs" who came to the list according to their closeness to the Russian authorities and their financial power. Among 114 politicians are executive directors of powerful state-owned companies such as Gazprom and Rosneft, as well as heads of intelligence agencies, the FSB, the SVR and the GRU.

The list was also completed by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev , Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and more than 40 members of the presidential administration, excluding Putin.

The list has 96 oligarchs with a fortune of over one billion dollars, among which are the influential investor Roman Abramovich and industrial magnates Oleg Deripaska and Alexander Abramov .

The document in the US Treasury Department states that placing on the list does not mean participation in illegal activities.
